The peritoneal cavity is the cavity in the abdomen ( generally known as the tummy) that
contains all the intestines and internal organs like the liver, spleen , uterus and
ovaries.
All organs within the peritoneal cavity are covered by a special membrane, called the peritoneum. The peritoneum covers the outer walls of the cavity and reflects from the back onto the organs. The drawing will explain it.
